French Grammar Lab

Who can use the Grammar Lab?

The Grammar Lab is restricted to students in the following classes:

  • FREN 321 (Advanced French, Part 1)
  • FREN 322 (Advanced French, Part 2)

Please sign up for a lab tutor that is labeled for your respective class. On the schedule it will be beside their name in parenthesis e.g.: Tutor Name (321).

What is the purpose of the French Grammar Lab?

The lab is designed to help students master advanced language concepts. It is meant to give targeted grammar instruction to those who come with specific questions. Examples of questions could be:

  • Concepts from your class that are still confusing
  • Principles from a speaking or writing appointment where there wasn't time to do a full explanation

How does the Grammar Lab work?

You will first need to schedule an appointment with a speaking lab tutor. Schedule an appointment by clicking on the button below. You can also review the instructions for how to use our online scheduler here.

What are the Lab Policies?

  • We expect students to come prepared with a professional attitude
  • Accounts will be blocked after two (2) no-shows
  • You must cancel at least two (2) hours in advance to avoid a no-show
  • If you are blocked you will be limited to walk-in appointments only
  • By coming to the lab you accept that lab tutors will push you out of your comfort zone during your appointments and will ask follow-up questions if necessary
  • If on Zoom, you must be in an appropriate environment similar to the in-person lab; quiet and distraction-free
  • You will be marked absent if you are engaged in another activity while in your appointment (e.g.: driving, rock climbing, attending a wedding, etc.)

Your instructor may have specific assignments for the lab, so consult Learning Suite or Canvas before your appointment.
